Building Smart Platforms into our TVs

1、Philips Android TVs

We work with several partners to bring the best experience onto our Smart TVs. Our Android TVs today offer the latest OTT contents from leading partners like Netflix, Prime Video, Freeview Play, Rakuten TV.

For convenience, we designed our remote controls to take in voice inputs for Google Assistant, enabling not just a voice assistant to answer any question you have or to control your TVs, but also to control Works-with-Google Assistant IoT devices in the home. On top of that, we have also built in Works-with-Alexa, enabling often used TV functions to be voice controlled from an Alexa enabled Smart Speaker.

For consumers who like to use their mobile phones, we have also built in a mobile app – the Philips TV App (PTA) to enable them to control the TV with their mobile phones.

We have also built in special features such as Sunrise Alarm, Demo Me, “How to…” tutorial videos, audio room calibration, and DTS Play-Fi connectivity.

DTS PlayFi enables the TV’s audio to be connected wirelessly to our Play-Fi enabled wireless speakers in a multi-room or multichannel setup.

2、Philips SAPHI TVs

Our SAPHI TV is built on our own Linux-based bespoke OS, incorporating good value-for-money in the mid-range with cost efficient solutions.

Our SAPHI TVs also offer the latest OTT contents from leading partners like Netflix, Prime Video, Freeview Play, Rakuten TV.

Our engineers built a completely revamped SAPHI home page to bring a content-centric and easy-to-navigate User Interface. With its clear icon-based menu, our SAPHI OS lets you quickly navigate to the apps you love. Searching for content is simple too, and you can control your Philips smart TV settings from the home screen.

SAPHI OS is also enabled with a built-in Alexa Voice Assistant, which differentiates it from most Linux based platforms. At the push of a button on the remote control, you can use your voice to ask Alexa anything, to control you TV, search for contents on supported apps, and control IoT devices that Works-with-Alexa. Ambilight enabled models also enhances the Alexa response by providing the trademark blue tones to indicate interactions with Alexa.

An improved Settings Assistant Wizard has been designed to make setup effortless.

The Philips TV App (PTA) on mobile phones is also able to work with SAPHI TVs.
